This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Austin, TX or Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum [or other frequency dictated by the business if more than 3 days].

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Geospatial Manager/Engineer to lead our Location-based Services team. The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert with a strong technical background in geospatial and mapping systems. In this role, you will guide the team and provide thought leadership in research, design, deployment, and launch of advanced location-based services and mapping products. We are looking for an innovative continuous learner and collaborative problem solver who is driven to take ideas to production.
What You’ll Do
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)
10+ years of experience in design and implementation of advanced geospatial and mapping data products
Proven experience in location-based services with a deep understanding of geospatial data engineering, object stores, methodologies, software architecture, and deploying location-based services to the onboard vehicle applications as well as the cloud infrastructure / systems
10+ years of experience in location-based services software development (MapBox, OpenStreet Maps, ARCGIS, Postgres, Parquet, Python, C)
3+ years of managing highly performant teams of approximately 6 - 10+ engineers
Strong knowledge of mapping data structures/tiling
A passion for innovation and continuous improvement, and a desire to push the boundaries of customer-facing mapping technology
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable insights
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and requirements
Demonstrated ability to process a high volume of work with high complexity with nonstandard solutions
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders
What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
Advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field; PhD preferred.
Deep knowledge of geospatial architecture, incorporation of telematics data, and cloud platforms
Demonstrated technical creativity, research publications, and development of intellectual property

Company Vehicle: Upon successful completion of a motor vehicle report review, you will be eligible to participate in a company vehicle evaluation program, through which you will be assigned a General Motors vehicle to drive and evaluate.
