Associate, Senior Data Analyst

This role sits within Preqin, a part of BlackRock. Preqin plays a key role in how we are revolutionizing private markets data and technology for clients globally, complementing our existing Aladdin technology platform to deliver investment solutions for the whole portfolio. 

 

About the team

  • A core part of Preqin’s growth plan is to continue building out our market leading data platform and we have scaled up an Analytics unit to accelerate this. We are seeking talented analysts to deliver data-driven insights for both internal and external customers. You will be joining at an exciting time when we are integrating our products with BlackRock and there are plentiful ways to make an impact for our business and our clients. 

 

About the role 

  • You will be a data champion for our General Partners (GP) Business Unit which covers GPs investing across the private markets universe. You will operate analytics for some product pods as well as own the development of client facing dashboards.
  • You will learn what type of data insights our stakeholders value. You will provide easy-to-understand analytics that help turbocharge their business development, competitive intelligence and market analytics efforts. You will form relationships with stakeholders to understand their requirements, build analytics solutions for our customers. And you will influence Business Unit decision making using your data storytelling ability. 

  

Key responsibilities: 

  • Define KPIs for business and product success and identify their drivers.   
  • Develop and iterate on PowerBI dashboards, Excel Templates and Python scripts, then put them into the hands of our stakeholders (and sometimes clients).  
  • Drive product strategy and identify opportunities through structured data analysis across data sources (e.g., usage data, Marketing and Sales data).  
  • Understand problems of internal or external customers to jointly and iteratively design and develop solutions for them.  
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders (e.g., designers, product managers, researchers) towards shared goals. 
  • Present data-driven insights to senior stakeholders, where possible enabling self-serving of that data within Metabase.  
  • Use DBT to automate data processes within our Snowflake database environment.  
  • Update and maintain documentation related to dashboards and self-service solutions within Confluence. 

 

What we are looking for 

  • You’re confident selecting between various analytical approaches to solve stakeholder problems and unlock interesting insights.  
  • You’re confident at writing SQL. 
  • You have a track record of building interactive dashboards (e.g., PowerBI, Metabase) which enable stakeholders to self-serve their own insights.  
  • You are familiar with web analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Heap).  
  • You’re an expert using Python or DBT for data transformations.  
  • You’ve worked with cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift).   
  • You’re passionate about creating solutions for stakeholders. You’ll understand their requirements, clearly document them, identify potential barriers, and translate technical terminologies to educate stakeholders.  
  • You’re an analytical thinker, with the ability to take ownership, solve problems, and contribute ideas within a high performing team.  
  • You thrive on working within a fast-paced, agile environment with the ability to manage your workload and execute to a high level.

Our hybrid work model
