KPMG Delivery Network (KDN) is seeking an innovative AI Research Scientist to join its AI Foundry. This role is focused on pioneering research in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), driving the development of cutting-edge technologies, and contributing to the advancement of AI solutions within KDN. The AI Research Scientist will work on high-impact research projects involving Generative AI, Machine Learning (ML), Deep Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and other advanced AI technologies. The role requires a deep passion for AI research, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate research findings into practical AI solutions that address real-world challenges.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conduct pioneering research in AI, focusing on areas such as Generative AI, ML, Deep Learning, NLP, Reinforcement Learning, and other emerging AI fields.
• Explore novel AI algorithms, models, and techniques to push the boundaries of current AI capabilities.
• Develop theoretical foundations for new AI technologies and validate them through experimentation and prototyping.

• Lead research initiatives aimed at discovering new AI methodologies and applications that can provide a competitive edge to KPMG.
• Publish research findings in top-tier academic conferences and journals, contributing to the global AI research community.
• Represent KDN AI Foundry at industry conferences, workshops, and seminars, sharing insights and innovations with the broader AI community.

• Collaborate with other researchers, data scientists, AI engineers, and domain experts to apply research findings to practical business solutions.
• Work closely with KPMG member firms to understand their challenges & research needs and develop AI solutions that address these requirements.
• Engage with academic institutions, research organizations, and technology partners to foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.

• Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept (PoC) models to demonstrate the practical viability of research findings.
• Use cutting-edge tools and platforms, such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, and cloud-based AI services (e.g., Azure AI, AWS SageMaker), to implement research concepts.
• Conduct experiments to test and refine AI models, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and applicable to real-world scenarios.

• Analyze large datasets to uncover patterns, correlations, and insights that can inform AI model development.
• Design and develop custom AI models that address specific research questions, leveraging advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Implement and validate AI models using rigorous scientific methodologies, ensuring accuracy and generalizability.

• Mentor junior researchers and data scientists, providing guidance on research methodologies, model development, and academic writing.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the AI Foundry, encouraging team members to pursue research and development.
• Lead internal workshops and training sessions to share research findings and best practices with the broader KDN community.

• Ensure that all research activities comply with ethical standards and promote responsible AI practices.
• Address issues related to bias, fairness, transparency, and explainability in AI models, ensuring that AI solutions are trustworthy and ethical.
• Advocate for the inclusion of ethical considerations in AI research and development within KDN.

Educational qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong academic background with publications in recognized AI conferences or journals.

Work experience

• 7+ years of experience in AI research, with a proven track record of contributing to significant AI advancements.
• Extensive experience in developing AI models, conducting experiments, and publishing research in the areas of Generative AI, ML, NLP, or similar fields.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and experience using cloud platforms for AI research.
