The DataOps Lead will be responsible for managing and optimising the flow of data across the organisation, with a focus on leveraging Microsoft Azure technologies in addition to supporting existing systems on Oracle. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with data operations, cloud platforms and modernising legacy data systems, ensuring reliability, performance and compliance.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Engineers, AI Engineers, DevOps, Architecture to ensure data is available, reliable and aligned with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify opportunities for optimisations, cost-savings and improvements by migrating to a more modern architecture
Implement and enforce DataOps best practices, including version control, CI/CD pipelines and automated testing to ensure data governance, quality and security
Implement monitoring and performance tuning strategies for Azure cloud services to ensure high availability and optimised performance
Drive continuous improvements by analysing data storage solutions and data flows to identify bottlenecks and proposing solutions
Support of the existing Oracle database and surrounding components
Line management and mentoring of Oracle DBA
Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:
Extensive experience with modern data solutions, SQL/NoSQL databases, data lake storage
Proficient with SQL and experience in performance tuning, optimisation and troubleshooting
Knowledge of Azure data services such as Data Factory, Databricks
Familiarity with tools like Terraform, Azure DevOps or other CI/CD frameworks for automating data workflows
Understanding of data governance, security best practices and compliance in cloud-based data operations
Previous experience setting up and monitoring different integration/ingestion methods such as APIs, direct database connections
Previous experience managing and developing a team, carrying out 121s, setting targets and distributing workload
Experience with Oracle databases
