The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 4-months contract at the NIE Centre for Research in Pedagogy & Practice.

Project Title: Translating the use of inquiry-based approaches to investigating real-world phenomena using the Internet of Things and Data Science

Project Introduction: The National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant on a 4-months (renewable) contract at the NIE Centre for Research in Pedagogy & Practice (CRPP). This project seeks to scale and translate the emerging findings from a preceding project ‘Designing for greater authenticity in Geographical Investigations (GI) through local microclimate studies with the Internet of Things (IoT) and open-source environmental sensors’ to the Natural Sciences and to A-Level curricula. This project was conceptualised because of requests from teachers from schools who have learned about the trajectory of teacher-designed enactments and have envisaged opportunities for such translation in to their respective curricula.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, or related disciplines
• Working experience in research project and familiar with research methods
• Experience with conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses
• Fluent in the following programming languages: Python, R
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing and organization skills
• Self-motivated, independent and a strong team player
• Able to problem solve
• A self-directed learner who effectively picks up relevant skills as needed

Responsibilities:

• Conduct literature reviews to support research and perform research analysis
• Manage and assist with data collection
• Manage project-related administrative work
• Work on development of lessons and materials
• Work closely with key management and administrative colleagues
• Other duties and administrative functions as assigned by the Principal Investigator
