Senior Researcher or DTU Tenure Track Researcher or Associate Professor or DTU Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Wind Farm & Hybrid Power Plant Simulation, Design & Control - DTU Wind

We invite applications for one or more tenure-track positions at varying academic levels (Researcher/Senior Researcher or Assistant/Associate Professor), suited for ambitious candidates with expertise in one or more of the following specialized areas:

  • Machine Learning / Deep Learning
  • Uncertainty Quantification
  • Wind Farm Flow Modelling
  • Wind Farm Control
  • Wind Farm Design
  • Wind Farm Control Co-design
  • Hybrid Power Plant Design & Control Co-design (integrating wind with solar, battery storage, hydrogen, or other Power-to-X systems, encompassing both sizing and physical design aspects)

Positions are available as full-time or part-time tenure-track contracts. Flexible arrangements allowing combination with roles in industry, particularly within wind energy companies, are possible.

Responsibilities and qualifications

Qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics.
  • Proficiency in scientific programming with Python.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • A proven academic publication record demonstrating research excellence.

As Associate Professor you must be responsible for the teaching of courses and as Senior Researcher you must contribute to teaching at the Department. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.

As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). If you are applying for the associate professor position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an assistant professorship and documented didactic/pedagogic training. If you are applying for the senior researcher position you should also have academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a researcher or postdoc. To be appointed as a senior researcher, you must have completed a didactic/pedagogic education. If you do not have the necessary education, then it is possible to complete this requirement within a period of two years of appointment.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. 

Full-time or part-time.

About the Section: The Systems Engineering and Optimization section within the department focuses on applying systems engineering principles to the design and operation of complex energy transition systems. The section’s 25 members conduct research on wind farms, hybrid power plants, and emerging technologies, utilizing multi-disciplinary design optimization, systems engineering, uncertainty quantification, and machine learning to accelerate the green transition.
