The Data & Analytics Manager will be responsible for leading and developing a team of BI professionals and data scientists. This includes ensuring that requests are appropriately prioritized and workloads efficiently managed across both BI and data science functions. The role will drive the development of a self-serve data mentality across the business and lead the execution of advanced analytics projects that add significant value to wider business processes.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, as well as hands-on expertise in SQL, Power BI, and data science tools such as Python and machine learning frameworks.
The key responsibilities of the role are as follows:
Team & Workload Management
Line management responsibilities of a team comprising BI developers and data scientists to support the MI, data insights, and advanced analytics needs of the wider business.
Support the development of the team through regular 1-2-1s, performance reviews, identification of training requirements, and creating a culture of shared learnings.
Through your team, provide business support across the creation of reporting datasets, BI reports, dashboards, and predictive analytics models.
Prioritisation of requests and management of workloads across the team, balancing short-term reporting needs with longer-term data science initiatives.
Delivering Quality Of Service
Ensure regular communication with stakeholders so they know the status of their requests and project progress at all times.
Ensure all BI and data science deliverables are accurate, actionable, and meet business requirements.
Implement quality control and peer-review measures to prevent inaccuracies and inconsistencies across all outputs.
Maintain a single source of truth for data and ensure consistency across BI reporting and data science outputs.
Stay current with business data changes and stakeholder requirements to keep all insights relevant and updated.
Development Of The Department
Support the business in fostering a self-serve data mentality, reducing dependency on static BI reports.
Oversee the development of departmental dashboards and self-service analytics tools.
Guide the data science team in designing, testing, and deploying models and analytics solutions that improve decision-making and operational efficiency.
Provide senior management with regular updates on insights, trends, and opportunities identified through both BI and data science work.
Lead the evaluation and adoption of new BI and data science technologies to improve the team’s overall effectiveness.
Stay up to date with industry trends in BI, data science, machine learning, and AI-driven insights.
Identify opportunities to integrate automation, AI, and advanced analytics into both BI and broader business functions.
Qualifications
Leadership & Team Management – Proven experience leading a multidisciplinary team, including BI professionals and data scientists.
BI & Data Science Expertise – Proficiency in tools such as SQL, Power BI, Python, and ML frameworks.
Project & Workload Management – Strong organizational skills to manage priorities, deadlines, and multi-stream deliverables.
Stakeholder Engagement – Ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-Solving & Innovation – A proactive and innovative approach to resolving data-related challenges and identifying new opportunities for data-driven value creation.
